Inside MOVE America 2025, where the Motor City proved it never stopped moving
The irony wasn’t lost on anyone: a conference about the future of mobility, held in the city that invented it.
But Detroit in 2025 isn’t trading on nostalgia. Walk into Huntington Place during MOVE America’s inaugural week, and you’ll find something far more interesting than a victory lap — you’ll find an industry in mid-transformation, gathering in the only city that knows what reinvention actually costs.
OEMs rubbed shoulders with scrappy startups. Fleet operators compared notes with software engineers. The exhibition floor hummed with a particular kind of tension — the productive kind, where old guard meets new thinking and neither one blinks first.
At Booth S188, the AutoMobility Advisors team spent three days doing what we do best: connecting dots. As fractional executives who’ve spent careers navigating automotive’s tectonic shifts, we help companies translate vision into velocity. Strategy. Marketing. Business development. The unglamorous work of turning “what if” into “what’s next.”
What struck us most wasn’t the technology on display — though there was plenty worth noting. It was the conversations between the displays. The fleet manager from Ohio sketching out electrification timelines with a charging infrastructure startup. The legacy supplier exploring partnership models with a connectivity firm. Everywhere, the slow, deliberate work of building what comes next.
Detroit gets that work. This city has been rebuilt more times than most, always on the bones of what came before. MOVE America chose its location wisely.
The future of mobility won’t be designed in isolation or won through competition alone. It’ll be engineered through exactly what we witnessed this week: uncomfortable conversations, unlikely partnerships, and the willingness to admit that no single company — no matter how storied or well-funded — has all the answers.
If you stopped by our booth, you already know this. If we missed you, let’s not make that mistake twice.
